This 11 Day Primates & Wildlife Safari in Uganda and Tanzania starts from Entebbe Uganda and ends in Arusha Tanzania. The safari takes you to Kibale National Park for Chimpanzee tracking, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla tracking, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and Tarangire National Park for extensive wild game viewing including the Big five of African Wild game.

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

On arrival, you will meet the StarMount Safaris’ tour guide/driver at Entebbe International Airport. You will then be transferred to your hotel where you will spend a night as you wait to start your safari the next day.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park & visit to the Amabere g’Nyinamwiru caves

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and thereafter you will commence on your journey to Kibale National Park. While on the drive, you will be exploring and viewing the scenic landscapes of Western Uganda such as; the lush vegetation, the small towns, distant views of Lake Wamara and extensive beautiful tea estates as you approach Fort Portal town.  You will have lunch in Fort Portal town. After lunch you will then proceed with a visit to the Amabere g’Nyinawiru Caves for a cultural experience as you learn about the history behind these caves which the locals believe that they hold the breasts of Nyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku, the self-enthroned King of the Bachwezi known to have inhabited the great lakes region in the ancient times.  From the caves, you will be transferred to your lodge for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Full day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

After your early breakfast, you will head out for a full day Chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale National Park. You will be transferred to Kanyanchu Park headquarters where you start with a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority Park rangers. Enjoy this whole day experience as you catch up with the chimpanzees setting out of their nests to start the day. You join them as they undertake their hunting, playing, mating, patrolling and feeding among other features from morning till evening at around 7 pm when they make new nests for overnight. This is a very detailed encounter with one of the Great Ape Species. Thereafter, you will be transferred to your lodge for the overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Queen Elizabeth National Park Ishasha Sector

After breakfast at the lodge, you embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving along the fascinating scenic landscapes like the Rwenzori Mountains with its glacial peaks and the savannah stretches of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive in its southern sector of Ishasha where you are to view the unique tree-climbing lions and while on this game drive you have chances of viewing other wildlife such as; buffaloes, elephants, and more wildlife. After the game drive, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will check into your lodge and relax.

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking

You will have breakfast and thereafter you will head out for gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will be transferred to the park headquarters and in the company of the ranger guides, you traverse the forest jungle, hiking steep slopes and descending narrow valleys not forgetting crossing the seasonal streams in search of these endangered apes. The whole encounter can last about 2 – 8 hours with one full hour of spending with the gorillas. Thereafter you will return to your lodge.

Day 6:  Fly from Kisoro Airstrip to Entebbe & take a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport

After breakfast, the guide will transfer you to Kisoro Airstrip to catch a scheduled Aero Link flight which departs at 9.10 am and arrives at 11.25 am at Entebbe International Airport. Thereafter you will take your flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival, you will be picked up by our representative in Tanzania who will transfer you to your hotel for the overnight stay.

Days 7: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive you to Lake Manyara National Park. Manyara is a relatively small but diverse park, 120km west of Arusha. The park's namesake is a shallow, salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons and is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On your exploration of the park you will see monkeys, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant and with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains, but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab dotted cliffs. After a full day in the Park, you will drive to Karatu Town where you will be able to relax and enjoy your dinner.

Day 8 & 9: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will drive through the crater highlands, stopping at the rim for a spectacular View   of the Ngorongoro Crater. January to April is the season when wildebeest give birth to their calves and also hundreds of thousands of plains zebras and Thomson's gazelles. Large predators including lions, cheetahs and hyenas are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey which migrates throughout the park. Many smaller animals like rock hyrax, bat eared foxes, mongoose, honey badger, jackals, monkeys, baboons and African hares also inhabit the area along with nearly 500 species of birds. After the game drive, you will proceed to your camp / lodge.

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will wake up very early for an early morning safari before breakfast. This is the best time to spot the animals when they are more active and also to have a fantastic sun rise in front of you. The sunrise in the African Savannah is one of the most beautiful experiences one can have. You will then travel to Ngorongoro Crater, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa Including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wild life in the planet.  It contains a river, several swamps, and a soda lake that, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingos, a forest and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. After the day game drive, you will drive to your lodge and campsite for an overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Tarangire National Park & Departure

After breakfast, you will go for a short drive to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is well known for its large elephant herds. From the open roof of the vehicle you will experience the seasonal swamps, savanna and Tarangire River in search of many animals including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant and giraffe. It's possible that you will catch a glimpse of a lion stalking its prey or leopards watching and relaxing in the trees above. After lunch in the park, you will be transferred to Arusha in time for your flight back home.
