On this 3-day tour, you will be taken around the city of Kigali to visit historical sites and do golden monkey tracking. On the second day of this tour, you will be excited to visit the Volcanoes National Park for a Gorilla tracking as the prime activity and also involves hiking through the verdant rain forest in search of these giants. Volcanoes National Park is where half of the other mountain gorillas habitat besides Uganda’s Bwindi National Park.

Day 1: Historical-Cultural Site Tours
You will be picked from your agreed location to embark on your tour. Start off with a historical-minded exploration of Kigali City with visits to landmarks from colonial, post-independence, genocide and post-genocide times such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Kigali Genocide Memorial is the site where over 259,000 genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves as their final resting place. It honors the memory of more than a million Rwandese that were killed in the 1994 war between the Hutus and Tutsi through education and peace building.
Dr. Richard Kandt Museum who was the first Germany explorer to settle in Kigali. This museum is a dedication to Dr. Richard situated on Nyarugenge Hill in Kigali city. It was his former home that was turned into the Historical museum in 2006. This museum strives to show the evolution of life, description of Flora and Fauna of Rwanda’s National Parks (Volcanoes, Nyungwe and Akagera), geological background of Rwanda, German and Rwanda shared history and exhibition of live reptiles (snakes) with the aim to explain the interrelation between nature and history as result of natural history museum. While at this museum you also get the best view of three mountains (Mt Kigali, Mt Shyorongi and Mt Jali) and the old Kigali city.

In the afternoon, you are transferred to Bugesera to visit Nyamata and Ntarama genocide churches where thousands of innocent people were butchered in the house of God. Late evening you proceed to Volcanoes National Park inMusanze. Dinner and overnight

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
You will have an early breakfast by 6:00 am then transfer to the park headquarters at 7 am for briefings and grouping. Guests are allocated their specific Gorilla groups for tracking in respect to their physical abilities. Thereafter you are transferred to the various starting points for tracking. The tracking lasts about 1 to 6 hours depending on how soon the gorillas are encountered as they keep moving from one point to another. Upon seeing them, you are allowed to spend an hour with them as you take their photographs. Thereafter you return to the pickup point where your vehicle is stationed so that you transferred to your next program, lunch.
After lunch, you are driven back to your hotel to rest. Alternatively, you could opt to visit Buhanga Forest in the afternoon, a place where all the Rwanda kings were initiated or Kinigi Cultural Village for traditional dances and music, bio-mimicry and traditional healing lessons.

Day 3: Golden Monkeys & Airport Transfer
After breakfast, return to the entrance of the Park early in the morning to see the Golden Monkeys. It is now believed that they are the only feasible population of Golden Monkeys residing in Volcanoes National Park. They are beautiful and endangered primates which have become quite habituated to humans, making it possible to observe them closely.
After lunch at the Lodge, you will be transferred back to Kigali or be dropped off at Kigali International Airport in case you have a flight to catch.
