Lake Malawi, also known as Lake Nyasa in Tanzania and Lago Niassa in Mozambique, is an African Great Lake. Its shared between Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania. It is the nineth largest lake in the world, the third largest and second deepest lake in Africa. The Mozambique portion of the lake was officially declared a reserve by the Government of Mozambique on June 10, 2011,while in Malawi a portion of the lake is part ofLake Malawi National Park. Lake Malawi is a meromictic lake, meaning that its water layers do not mix.

Day 1: Arrival

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Malawi

Day 3: Boat ride to Thumbi Island

Day 4: Transfer to Lilongwe via Kungoni Cultural Centre

Day 1: Arrival

Arrive in Lilongwe. Meet and greet with our representative at the airport who then drives you to your hotel for check in. Relax as you wait for your dinner to be served

Accommodation: Korea Gardens or Madidi Lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Malawi

Enjoy your breakfast before departing for Cape Maclear at Lake Malawi. The drive takes about 4 to 5 hours from Lilongwe. You arrive in Cape Maclear and check in at your Lodge. After settling in your rooms, you have lunch while enjoying the great view of Lake Malawi. Enjoy the rest of your evening relaxing by the beach till sunset as you wait for dinner.

Day 3: Boat ride to Thumbi Island

Have your breakfast. Thereafter, take a boat ride to Thumbi Island for snorkeling. While at the island you will also get the opportunity to feed the African Fish Eagles which you can choose to do either before or after snorkeling. After snorkeling you will have your lunch served by the beach side. On the Menu, it will fresh barbecue fish served with rice and veggies. Later in the evening you are transferred from the island back to the lodge via the Otters Point.

Day 4: Transfer to Lilongwe via Kungoni Cultural Centre

Enjoy breakfast before departing back to Lilongwe. You will make a stop at the Kungoni Cultural Centre for a cultural experience. The Kungoni Cultural Centre is situated at Mua Mission. The museum has three cultural artifacts of three tribes surrounding the mission i.e The Yao, Ngoni and Chewa. The Chewa is known to be biggest tribe and has a popular dance called “GulewaMkulu” literally translated as “great dance”. Check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: City tour & Departure

Start off with breakfast thereafter check out from lodge. You do a brief city tour just before airport drop off in time for your flight.
