Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a home to Mountain Gorillas. Bwindi is one of the three rain forests in the world. It is famous for gorilla tracking activity in Uganda.

Apart from gorilla tracking, the park boasts 90 mammal species, including 11 primates and prominent bird species.

The tourist will get up close and personal with these rare Great Apes and thus it will be great.

American zoologist George Schaller, one of the first people to study gorillas in the wild, once said: "No one who looks into the eyes of a Gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain unchanged."

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is in south-western Uganda.

The park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and is situated along the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border.

It is next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift

The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (Tracking can take 2 to 8 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes).

When you finally locate the family that you are tracking, sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback.

It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest in the knowledge you are in the presence of the few remaining Mountain Gorillas in the wild. After the mandatory 1 hour is up, the rangers and guides will lead you back to the starting point where your guide will be waiting for you.

Thereafter, the guide will transfer you to your lodge for overnight stay.

For several years before Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was gazetted as a National park, this forest was home to the Batwa Pygmies who were referred to as the original dwellers and keepers of this tropical rainforest. After Bwindi Forest was gazetted as a National Park in 1993, the Pygmies were relocated from the forest to the nearby villages and towns. You will meet pygmies, interact with them and learn more about their culture.

Thereafter you will be transferred back to the hotel.
